Hi Reader, I was asked this question about marketing measurement several times after my stage talks, and I didn’t have a quick answer. So here it is. In the past few months, I’ve spoken at events like MarketingProfs B2B Forum and Digital Summit Series, where I’ve shared the CASH framework on which my upcoming book is based. By the way, CASH stands for: Communication | Alignment | Systems | Honesty I started both speeches by letting the room (mostly marketers) know that we need to present new measurement methods if we want to keep our jobs. For marketers, “keeping your job” means showing the value that marketing contributes to the bottom line. I explained that the metrics and KPIs we traditionally report don’t work towards that goal. Then came the question - it happened at the exact same time at each speech… “So Lee, what DO we measure?” My general answer is to start with the metrics that executives value and that Sales reports on in sales meetings (see the Communication section of the book when you get it). That wasn’t a specific answer. I know. So I dug in and not only came up with answers, but specific equations to get you to that metric. We’ve got to do better, Marketers. Here are 10 Marketing Metrics that you should be looking at in 2025. Yours in Marketing, Lee |
