Moving your podcast from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music

Hi Reader,

I'm writing to inform you about an important change in the way Google handles podcasts that may affect how Google Podcast listeners access your content. As you may be aware, Google has recently decided to discontinue the standalone Google Podcasts service.

The good news is that this change is designed to streamline and enhance the podcast listening experience by integrating it directly into YouTube Music. This shift aligns with the listening habits of the majority of podcast users today, as YouTube already plays a significant role in podcast distribution.

What This Means for Your Podcast:

Minimal Impact: This update affects only a small percentage of podcast listeners who used the Google Podcasts app, so you can rest assured that the overall reach of your podcast is largely unaffected. This will NOT affect your content on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, other platforms, or Google search results.

Increased Visibility: Hosting your podcast on YouTube Music allows you to tap into a larger audience base.

We continue to manage your podcast on all other platforms like Apple Podcast, Spotify, and Amazon. However, YouTube requires Editor access to your YouTube channel to make changes in YouTube. If you would like us to manage this for you, please add Operations@ContentMonsta.com as an Editor of the YouTube channel.

Steps to List Your Podcast on YouTube:

Verify Your Account: Ensure that you have a verified YouTube channel. If you don't have one, you can create a channel quickly on YouTube.

Prepare Your Feed: Your existing podcast RSS feed can typically be used. If you don't have your RSS feed URL, please contact us at CustomerCare@ContentMonsta.com and we will send your URL to you.

Submit Your Podcast: You can submit your podcast feed through YouTube’s podcast management platform. Once approved, your episodes will appear as a playlist under the 'Podcasts' section on YouTube Music.

What happens when you submit your RSS feed to YouTube?

When you submit your RSS feed to YouTube, YouTube will create videos for each podcast episode that you choose to upload. YouTube will use your podcast's show art to create a static image video and upload it to your channel on your behalf.

Here's a short video from our friends at Transistor.fm that give you a walk through of the process.
